We don't stink at math!

The Common Core can be quite overwhelming.  I know it can be for me and only teach math!  I have been spending a lot of time visiting blogs and seeing what teachers are creating on TPT.  Based on what I read and see, I can say that  we are on the right track.  True, many schools have not provided the right amount of PD for teachers.  However, dedicated teachers push themselves, choose to learn new teaching methods, and see the value in helping our students develop a deeper understanding of mathematics.  The article blow is a bit long, but worth reading!

Read any good books lately?

Hello again.  Thrilled to be joining up with Dooblebugs Teaching again.  I usually can't wait for Friday but this summer they seem to be sneaking up on me a little too quickly.  :(

I have been reading some pretty good books lately.  My husband and I have been spending the last 3 weeks in the country.  That means long walks with our pup Rufus, bike rides, sitting by the pool and lake and lots and lots of reading.  Below are my most recent reads.  Enjoy! :)
I am reading The Vactioners right now.  I am only on day 3 of their vacation but so far so good.  A NYC family rent a house and take a two-week vacation in Mallorca.  I can only assume secrets come out and people are not who they seem.  I'll keep you posted!
Where'd You Go Bernadette is about a strong opinionated woman living in Seattle.  She suddenly disappears and turns her teenage daughter's world upside down.  I noticed that Bridget at Literacy Without Worksheets just read it too!  check it out!
Jennifer Weiner's newest book is about Allison Weiss.  Like many of use, she is trying to figure out how to handle it all - work, be a mom, and be a wife.  Allison is able to do it...as long as she takes some pills to help her through the day. OY! It's an interesting journey worth taking.
We Are Water is a deeply emotional story about Anna, her children, divorce and upcoming wedding.  We learn about some painful secrets that Anna has held on to for too long and the effects they have had on her and her family.  It is a bit graphic so you may want to read some more reviews before diving into this one.

I am loving my new Kindle paperwhite!  For years I have been struggling with my iPad and finally decided to get  a Kindle.  What a difference!  I can actually read in the sun without seeing my reflection!  It is small, lightweight and so easy to use.  I promise, I don't work for Amazon, I just love it so much -worth ever penny!

What are you reading this summer?  Drop me a line and let me know.  Thanks for stopping by :)
